A South Jersey man with drugs in his car and a weapon is facing criminal charges after being taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound. On March 1, Burlington City Police Department responded to call of gunshots and identified the vehicle that Eugene Grehsan, 34, was driving as the one that matching the description reportedly involved in the shooting incident. Grehsan reportedly drove away from the shooting incident after being wounded. Police found him at a Route 130 restaurant with a gunshot wound that was non-threatening and transported him to a local trauma center. Upon arrival to a local trauma center, Grehsan was allegedly found to have heroin, cocaine, and marijuana in his possession. The police impounded his vehicle and retrieved a search warrant. During the police search, officials allege they found a stolen gun, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia. Greshan was arrested and taken to the Florence department for processing. He was charged with possession of a firearm while attempting to commit a drug transaction, as well as possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a firearm. In addition, Greshan was charged by police with theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 500 ft. of a public housing facility, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon among other charges. The arrest of Greshan was brought through the efforts of the U.S. Marshals, the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force, and the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Unit. Greshan is currently holding in the Burlington County Jail until his court date. He has two past drug crimes as well as a conviction for assault after shooting a man in 2006.
