Police in Trenton recently arrested a man accused of robbing several businesses over the course of a month, using a silver metal BB gun to do so, according to a recent article in the Trentonian. The 23-year-old man was placed under arrest after police spotted him in an alley not far from a Dunkin’ Donuts location that had been held up twice in the previous month. They believe the man to be the one responsible for these robberies, as well as several others in the area. Police claim the man is responsible for six robberies between November 5 and December 6, 2017. In each instance, say police, the robber wore a black mask, carried a white plastic bag, and brandished a silver BB gun. The locations involved in the robberies included two grocery stores, a deli, and the Dunkin’ Donuts. Both the Dunkin’ Donuts location and one of the grocery stores are said to have been the site of multiple robberies by the same person. Trenton police have reported that they arrested the 23-year-old after surveillance camera footage spotted him walking in an alley about 100 yards from the Dunkin’ Donuts, wearing the same clothes the robber had worn in previous robberies. The police also claim to have recovered a vehicle used in one of the robberies. In addition to their claim that the man committed six robberies, police also say he may have been involved in one or more local muggings. They also believe the man had an accomplice for at least one of the robberies of which he is accused. Robbery, which involves taking another’s property through the use of threat of force, is a serious criminal charge in New Jersey. A robbery charge may be accompanied by weapons-related charges that can greatly expand the penalties a person might face if convicted.
